We did this puzzle in honor of our neighbor Stan, who passed away in 2018. Stan was the friendly guy who lived next door to us in Chico, California. He painted the inside of our house right before we moved in.
The hospice people had given Stan this puzzle for something to do at home, but he did not get to it in time. Our other neighbor Flo found out we like jigsaw puzzles, so she passed this one on to us. And we did it in memory of Stan.
This puzzle was made by “Impact Photo Graphics” which is not one of the companies I am familiar with. It came in a small box “to help reduce post-consumer waste”, and I appreciate that.
The image is “panoramic” which is another way of saying it’s long and skinny.
One notable feature is the curving and meandering puzzle cut. A lot of puzzle companies that I follow have a traditional grid-like puzzle cut. This puzzle has a lot of unique undulating lines and interesting puzzle shapes. Check out the images in the gallery.
Another notable featured is that the fit of the puzzle was very loose. The pieces fit together fine, but they do not snap together. If you assemble a few pieces, you cannot easily move them, they fall apart readily.
The last thing I will note is that the puzzle image was very dark. There were many black or nearly-black pieces which had to be assembled by looking at the shape of the pieces. This actually made the puzzle more challenging than a 500 piece would ordinarily be. Check out the gallery below to see the dark pieces.
In conclusion, it was a fun somewhat challenging puzzle to work, and we are happy to have done it in memory of our neighbor Stan.
